The Latin materials linked to below were originally written to support the teaching of the language to children aged 10-13 (Years 6-8) who were preparing for the Common Entrance (C.E.), Common Academic Scholarship (C.A.S.E.), and other scholarship examinations for entry to British public schools (up to the 2015-16 academic year); they were intended to complement use of Cambridge Latin Course Books 1-3 (4th edition) [see here for currently (as of 24.09.24) free online versions of these].
The Classical Greek materials were originally written to support the teaching of the language to children aged 12-13 (Year 8) who were preparing for the entrance examinations above or learning for their own interest. The materials for Sanskrit, Biblical Hebrew, and Old English are versions of notes written over the years as aids to my own learning of the elements of those languages. I make no claims for their completeness, or indeed can guarantee their full accuracy (please let me know through the Contact Form on the home page if you spot any errors), but felt they were worth uploading as possible assistance to others.
Each presentation opens in its own tab/window and is in a slide-show format (based on PowerPoint),
such that its pages are all within one web page. Navigation within each presentation is via 'forward' and 'back' buttons at the bottom right (in most browsers). At the bottom left there is also a button to provide thumbnail views of all the pages in the presentation; clicking on a thumbnail will take you directly to the associated page. In many of the presentations (under those topics marked as [PowerPoint] below) there are pages allowing for self-testing of vocabulary, grammar, or syntax. In general, if you move the mouse over a blank area and the 'arrow' pointer changes to a 'hand', clicking will reveal a word ending or meaning. To hide all previously revealed endings/meanings on a page, click on the appropriate part of the page as follows:-
Vocabulary: dark blue title area
To reveal all endings and/or meanings on a page, click on the appropriate part of the page as follows:-Verb paradigms / English-Latin sentences / Syntax: pale blue area near the top Noun/Adjective paradigms: pale yellow heading area Grammar questions: pale purple area near the top (or, on some pages, near the left edge of the pale yellow area)
Verb paradigms: pale purple area to the left
Noun/Adjective paradigms: green column heading area for the paradigm I am now retired but hope my documents and presentations may still be of use, to both school pupils and any others wishing to embark on the study of ancient languages, particularly Classical Latin or Greek.
